In Microsoft 365 Copilot Notebooks, you can ask Copilot for key outputs, information on topics, analysis, and insights that are focused on just the content in your notebook.

Note: A Microsoft 365 Copilot license is required to use Copilot Notebooks, which is currently rolling out. Additionally, accounts must have a SharePoint or OneDrive license (service plan) in order to create notebooks. Copilot Notebooks is not available for personal Microsoft accounts, like Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscribers. Learn more about Microsoft 365 Copilot licensing and Microsoft 365 Copilot plans.

Ask Copilot about the contents in your notebook

  1. On the Notebooks home page, select the notebook you want to work on.

  2. In the chat box, prompt Copilot with a question about your notebook. For example:

Document with sparkles Summarize all the information I've collected on the U.S. eBike market.

  3. Select Send .

Copilot will provide an answer grounded on the references in your notebook. This chat response will be saved in the Chats tab on your notebook home page.

Notes:

  • While you can add more than 20 references to your notebook, only up to the first 20 will be used for grounding. Supported file types include .docx, .pptx, .xlsx, .pdf, .loop, and OneNote pages.

  • Links to supported file types within your Microsoft 365 account can be added and grounded on, but all other links, including web links, aren't supported.
